Jacob McGill - Rehabilitative Movement Education

Jacob McGill believes that a healthy, vibrant approach to living does not need to be complex. He has 15 years of training in a variety of healing systems and has practised Ortho-Bionomy and Pilates professionally for over a decade.

Following a serious motor vehicle accident that left Jacob hospitalized, he began a quest to rid himself of the chronic pain and lack of mobility from which he suffered. This eventually led him to combine the practices of Pilates and Ortho-Bionomy.

Jacob found the mixture of osteopathic and martial arts techniques in Ortho-Bionomy, combined with his knowledge of Aikido and the skills he learned while studying with Canadian Rehabilitative Pilates pioneer Dianne Miller, provided the most effective methods for healing himself.

Jacob has also trained with Ron Fletcher and Mary Bowen, Master Teachers who trained with Joseph Pilates. Jacob's clients benefit from the full range of his experience including his quest for mastery of Aikido.

Jacob has spent the past ten years working on this combination of health and training techniques. Using Pilates and Ortho-Bionomy as his primary methods, he has created systems that allow him to address accidents, injuries, trauma and deeply patterned structural issues (bulging discs, back pain, whiplash, post surgery, scoliosis), and in a series of sessions, facilitate positive permanent change in structural alignment and soft tissues.

This total body approach can take anywhere from 5 to 15 sessions during which a body/mind connection is identified and re-patterned. The patient is empowered to hold the new postural enabling more effective movement.

This process involves active participation during sessions and homework in the form of individual home programs. Jacob draws upon many forms of body work, movement therapies, nutrition, psychological and spiritual practices. He custom designs every program for the unique needs of individual clients.

Rohit Lal - Holistic Practitioner

After doing various types of work in the printing, retail and helping fields, and serving as a care-giver for my elderly mother for many years, I decided to go back to school to enter the Holistic Health Practitioner program in September of 2006. It was here that I found my true calling. While being enrolled in this two year, full time study program, that encompass both theoretical courses and many intensive practicum sessions, I discovered that the qualities and interests required for this type of work already existed at the very core of my being. In this field of study, I found a true amalgamation of my natural interests and skills. Therefore who I am and what I do, are intimately inter-woven and inseparable.

My passion and exuberance for helping individuals to a healthier state of body, mind and soul was clearly made evident in my work as a Holistic Health Practitioner student and intern which was reflected in the consistently positive feedback I received from those with whom I worked. My rich cultural background of East Indian and Nepalese and the philosophy of the Holistic Health field bring me full circle where a true marriage of East and West transpires. All of this gives me an edge over other applicants and makes me an asset to any company, clinic or organization.
